“Direct-to-consumer” prescription drugs advertisements should be banned. They serve only to enrich pharmaceutical companies, both by increasing their profits, and allowing them tax deductions for the cost of such advertisements as business expenses. Prescription drug ads encourage people to be their own doctor— deciding on their own that they have [insert disease or condition] and that [drug name] will be the cure for their ills. Moreover, taking a pill is not necessarily the best or proper treatment for a disease or condition.
